Meet Sarah Charles
Sarah Charles grew up in the Midwest and has been fascinated with dolphins and whales since childhood. Her passion for marine life led her to study manatees at the Cincinnati Zoo in college and aquarium internships and employment. Her experiences in all things marine have included participating in dolphin identification, tracking nesting sea turtles, and working as an environmental educator. These experiences were in varied marine habitats of Charleston South Carolina, St. Simon’s Island, Cumberland Island, Okefenokee Swamp Georgia and Keewaydin Island Florida. As a Texas A&M graduate student, she studied Gray Whale communication in Baja California, Mexico. Her degrees include a MS in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A&M University and a BS in Biology from Xavier University.
Sarah is a homeschool mom of three boys and a Marine Science educator. When she isn’t teaching, she is reading, paddling at Wekki Wachee, visiting museums, baking, or tending her garden and chickens. We are incredibly fortunate to have her sharing her expertise and excitement for marine science with us and inspiring our future marine guardians!
