Offered in partnership with The Homeschool Hangar and led by Chef Mark Hennessy, The Flavor Lab is where science meets the kitchen! This unique, hands-on course combines culinary skills with real-world science, giving homeschoolers the chance to experiment, cook, and learn in every class.
The Flavor Lab: Farm-to-Table Edition
This version of The Flavor Lab emphasizes hands-on cooking, real ingredient prep, and
farm-sourced foods. Each week blends practical cooking with fun, sensory science activities
(like testing soil pH, making butter, or exploring natural fermentation).
Week 1 – From Seed to Snack
Theme: Understanding where food begins and turning simple farm ingredients into tasty snacks.
Week 2 – The Power of Plants
Theme: How plants feed us flavor, color, and nutrition.
Week 3 – The Magic of Milk
Theme: From farm-fresh milk to delicious creations.
Week 4 – Grains to Gourmet
Theme: Discovering the science and flavor of grains.
Week 5 – From Farm to Fire
Theme: Cooking with heat and transforming farm produce.
Week 6 – Harvest Feast
Theme: Bringing it all together for a shared celebration.
Each class is capped at 12 students, with a minimum of 8 to run.
Tuition Policy
Tuition reflects full-session enrollment and covers materials, instructor planning, and scheduling. The Homeschool Hangar does not offer proration or refunds for late starts, absences, or withdrawals.
The Homeschool Hangar is a Step Up Direct Pay Provider. Families can reserve their scholarship funds for all classes through their EMA account.
